Engine Oil Pressure Zx16V

When engine in cold (just started in morning) oil pressure gauge indicate 4 (I assume is bar)

Once warm up, the gauge shows '2' on idling

When running condition at 2500rpm and above, it indicate 4 to 6 (in between)

If running below than what rpm specified above it will hovering around 2.

 

I was wondering it is normal?

Appreciate if anyone could advise me on this.

Sounds fine, as long as it hits 6 bar @ 4k+ then it is healthy, if it drops significantly at warm idle try new oil.

The citroen specs for the xu10j4 oil pressure (at oil temp 80degrees celsius) are;

1000rpm - 2.2bar

2000rpm - 4.3bar

4000rpm - 6bar

 

So, as Welshpug says, it sounds pretty much fine.

Sounds fine as said above, and it's worth remembering that the standard gauge and sender aren't exactly known for accuracy and hence I would treat it more as a relative indication of pressure than believe the absolute values indicated.

I should have said that those values i stated need to be checked with a mechanical oil pressure gauge attached to the pressure switch thread on the front of the block.

It is indeed a great info to have it as my baseline...

 

To sum up on this, what i would figure out is that as long as the OIL symbol at instrument panel does not illuminate during in driving mode, that should be fine enough.

The additional gauge for french (or rather european) car such as oil pressure / level / temperature is for better information only.

We would hardly find this type of indicators in Japanese car, at least in my country.

Thus, a lot of my friends & mates here, when they get into my car, they were kind of weird and too complex for them to understand.

FYI - Japanese car is much more common in our country...
