Wash your mouth out!!

A Gti6 would've just thrown it's Cambelt, melted a piston or just bent some valves for fun by now.

Not sure why it wasn't nearer 170, as I am using no. 4 pulley, but no matter.

Because you haven't fixed the compression problem yet?

I'm sure you're right Peter.

On that subject, I can't decide if it needs re-ringing/liners turning and honing etc, or just a new head gasket.

Unless a valve is bent, of course.

It uses no oil, which remains clean for the 6k miles between changes, doesn't smoke, and contains no emulsion.

Anyway, that's a subject for next year, for now I'll just enjoy it going better than ever and try for a sub-1 minute Brands Hatch lap time.

As for GTI6-age, its taken till a couple of years ago to get an mi16, going to enjoy that for a while yet.
