Cooling Fan

Recommended Posts

Hi, the coolant fan would not switch off today even though the rad. was cool, in fact the battery was almost flat with the fan running on.

When checking things out I noticed the round cylinder on top of the rad a little to the right was very very hot. I am not sure what this is and if it would the problem, can anyone please help me with this.

Thank you so much.

The round cylinder is approx 3" long and 3/4" dia. and has wires coming from it.

The cylinder is a resistor. The fan is connected through it to make it run at a slower speed. It's normal for it to get hot.

If the fan is running when it shouldn't then the only thing it can really be is the fan switch in the end of the radiator.

Hi Ryan, thank you for your help, I now have the part out and waiting for the factor to phone me, they are having a problem getting the part for me.

Could you maybe help on this one? my car is a basic Scepter 1400cc and the instrument panel is very basic, do you know if it would be possible to fit say an XS or Roland Garros type. (if I can get one that is)

Thank you once more.

ozy.

should be pretty easy to get a replacement, you need to confirm the temperature rating and what type of plug it needs.
