Where is the idle control valve is it the little motor on them that goes from inlet to intercooler?

Doesn't have a dumpvalve and it backfires a lot so I'm thinking air leak inlet side? Or idle control valve

my old 309 sri used to do it a lot. It just needed the throttle body cleaning out from time to time. I think the hole that allows air in while idling would get muck in it.
