Pondering A V6 24v Into Ph1 405

Hello!

 

I have an offer to buy a bear uncomplete V6 (without loom, with Fenix4 ECU, without intake, injection etc.) for punning into the 405

 

Questions:

 

Which version of the engine had a multiplex wiring loom? I trust that this version will never work in a 405

Do Mi16 gearbox and shafts and everything else fit?

 

Will I have to buy the downpipe or could the mi16 one be adapted?

could the engine work without a cat?

 

any other issues to consider?

 

It is a bargain so Im really considering buying the thing.

 

Also I could then tune the mi16 and once done, put it in while staring a V6 biturbo project ))))))))))

Pony on here was going to do it to his, he seems pretty clued up it :)

 

If it was me I would source a v6 gearbox and loom to do the conversion.

 

AFAIK, the 190bhp v6 is the non multiplexed and the later 210bhp is the multiplexed one. If you're a member of the 205gtidrivers forum there is quite a bit info on there

 

Would love to do the conversion myself, I almost bought Pony's engine but had holiday to pay for and have bought a house so I cant do it :(

The V6 without multiplex has 190 bhp - this engine has an alloy inlet manifold. The later 210 bhp mulitplex has a plastic one.

 

The V6 works with ML5 gearbox - no BE. There have to change something.

The shafts are to long - must be shortet.

 

Also the space is very smal, there are lot of parts to modify.

What about the V6 which was put into the 406 - they say that the shafts are the same as in 405 and the engine is actually smaller in size...

I have the ES9J4 from a 1998 modell - which was original in 406, 605, Xantia and XM.

I have testet shafts from Xantia and 406 both to long. :(

easy to make them shorter though :D

 

by the looks of it it is a lot easier to fit the ES9 into a 405 as the engine bay is more square at the front so has more space for the alternator, does the subframe need any modifying to clear the diff casing?

I will surely need all the help I can get in this project.

 

The engine I am about to buy is ZPJ4 (200hp 24V, chain driven cams).

Since the engine will have no intake at all, I am pondering the way to go - NA or twin-turbo.

So far I haven't found any throttle body solutions, and as far as turbo goes - DP Enginering makes exhaust manifolds, but not intakes.

 

Any pros and cons for a supercharger setup as alternative to twinturbo setup?

 

Ideas for front suspension? (I am guessing 306 coilovers with stiffer exchange spings and poliurethane bushings all round)

Is this the old V6 24V from 605 and XM?

This engine ist a bit bigger as the ES9J4 from the later PSA modells.

 

V6 24V:

 

1992-1996 - 200bhp

yeah, I doubt the older 24v engine would go in very easily at all as its a 90 degree one, and in a short google session I found that they are known for camshaft failure, I'd definitely go for the 194bhp ES9 as its proven to go in and is more reliable.

It is not a workable option here in Ukraine. We really have no good possibilities of finding engines at decent prices. For instance, a Mi16 engine (D6C or DFW) is a very rare find and will be as much as USD1,200 asking price. Let alone any slack or luck with finding any ES9J4 engines.

 

It is a stupid situation where any piece of crap with a Mi16 badge will costs above USD 5,000 easily. Plainly ridiculous.

Technicly yes, but in view of the customs duties we would be forced to pay on importing an old engine, in reality it is quite expensive, unless resorted to smuggling stuff through the border :lol:

 

Why, do you have any options on a decent engine package by chance? :rolleyes:
