Removing The Sticky Stuff From Boot Badges

Recommended Posts

Jer309GTi

Hi all, anyone know a product thats good for removing the sticky stuff left on the boot when you take the badges off, that wont damage the paint? I'm sure petrol will do the job but I don't know if this will damage the paint. Cheers :)

Ive done it before using white spirit or similar, just be very quick and don't leave it on the paint for long :P

Alternatively, autoglym tar and grease remover will take it off.

I was told WD40 did the trick, never tried it though.

Mr Teflon

What do you use to stick them back?

From looking at the material on the badges when they come off I'd say some kind of silicone?

I bought some high temp silicone once to stick an oven door glass back in, I reckon the same kind of stuff would suit this purpose. Tube about £3 from my local hardware shop - remember those?

I had some chrome lions on my last 405, just stuck them on with 2 sided tape.
