Rear Suspension - Mi16x4

Hi..im in need of a bit of assitance regarding the rear suspnsion my pug. It was sitting at the lowest point at the rear and not coming up to the correct height. The pump was working fine as everytime i hit the override switch in the boot it lift up fine.

 

I got it checked from Peugeot/Citroen boffs. They adjusted the part from the height sensot to the anti-roll bar to see if that would make a difference. Still did not work. They fiddled with this for a bit to see at what setting the car came to when in the normal ride mode. It worked for a while but then after a few hours back to the same old problem. I re-charged the sphere as not only was the car not at the correct height but the rear was bouncy as hell.

 

Still no improvement. So far i have re-charged the sphere and tried setting the arm/clip from the height sensor to the roll-bar but no luck.

 

Am i right in assuming it may be the sensor itself and can i change the wiring easily if im changing the sensor? WIll this resolve the bouncy aspect of the car as after getting the spheres cheged the rear is the same? or will i need to change the fluid pressure switch located on the sphere??

 

any feedback would be appreciated!

The bouncy or hard rear suspension is caused by the sphere only, i would order a new one from pug (they are still available as i have only just bought a new one for mine from work (pug dealer). in my experiance the recharged ones don't last very long at all.

 

As for the rear suspension not raising, i would suspect that the wiring is broken to the pressure switch located on the sphere housing, i would find it hard to beleive that the rear height sensor is broken all the way along its track,in any case it is quite a simple job to check the wiring for breaks and shorts using a simple multimeter. also if the you say that the suspension worked for a bit then stopped again i would defenatly rule out the height sensor and go more for the wiring, in all the years i have worked on these it always turns out to be a broken wire usually where the harness passes fron the body to the subframe just behind the o/s/r subframe rear mounting.

you cant "recharge" speres without specialist equipment, best to get a new one, they start at about £15 IIRC

 

you can get them from GSF and ECP

If you disconnect the "ride height correction solenoid" (C327) does it stay at the correct height? This a yellow two pin connector near the reservoir (wire 315 + earth), easily accessible after removing the side panel.

 

I have a similar problem which I've yet to solve. The only way to keep the rear from dumping has been to disconnect this valve. This must mean something is turning that solenoid on, via relay C725.

 

There are only two things that can earth out C725 turning it on - C901 (bleed connector) and C100 (the ride height switch). As C901 is just two bare terminals near the override switch, it can't be that. So I suspected C901. However, I changed this and still had the same problem. I can only assume my problem is the adjustment of the sway bar arm. When I back up my car on ramps, so the rear is approx. 300mm off the ground, the car will stay at the correct level. Back on level ground the car will drop.

Peugeot part number: 527113 or citroen part number: 95564252, they are both the same part boxed differently.

I had the same problem last month and solved it. All you have to do is to disconnect the height sensor, open it, remove the rubber from PCB, pull out PCB (heat it from outside to pull it easier) and resolder all elements on PCB (the only way to be shure you remove cool solder), assemble it again (use anyting to make case waterproof). If you need any pics or help how to do that, let me know, I'll post it.
