Will A Phase 2 Interior Fit In A Phase 1?

Recommended Posts

gingerscotsman

Hi!

Restoring my old phase 1 405 SRi. Having loads of fun doing it! :D

Unfortunatly after 6 years off the road the interior is looking pretty tired, smells abit and has the odd wee bit of mold etc.

Having had a phase 1 and phase 2 I know there is not much apparent differences in the sizes etc.

So does anyone know if a phase 2 interior will fit into a phase 1? I realise if I was to do the dash I may be into rewiring etc. Whats everyones thoughts on this?

hmm well i know for a fact (a friend has tried) to put ph2 door cards into his ph1

and he found that holes in the doors were completely off and he wasn't able to

mount them on the dors, let alone fix the handles etc.

maybe you could tell us a bit more about it, Sejo?

p.s. please enter all your details into your profile, especially your location.

thanks.

I'm quite interested to know if the phase 2 dash would fit the phase 1 car. Probably more hassle than it's worth though others have done crazier things like putting a 206 dash into a 205.

Doorcards won't fit, but seats will.

Phase 1 interior is better by a mile anyway I reckon! ;)

Trouble with the phase 1 is that they really should have made that top bit more flush with the rest of the dash. Instead it juts out like some ghastly Halfords add on. Still, I've lived with it for 7 years so I'm used to it now. If only I could stop the creaking!

I do like it but I can see why some people would prefer the later one.

It was all part of that 90s thing were car styling lost alot of it's individuality and everything looked the same - built in a wind tunnel. More recently angles and shapes have made a comeback.

I'm with you on that! Although I wouldn't mind some of those Phase 2 1/2 alcantara seats

You want to try putting some GrpN engine mounts on! :P It's a good job I've got a loud stereo to drown out the rattles/squeaks/creaks :D

Yeah though I do wonder if my bottom mount is grp N, it's completely solid and I'm sure the standard ones arent.?

Would be interested to see the 205 with a 206 interior!

But I think you lot have convinced me that its probably more hassle than its worth. I will just need to keep an eye out for a nice phase 1 leather interior I think.

Loads to do before I worry about interiors though!! :)

I think the pic has been re-sized to that size, isn't a forum hosted one.

iirc a 206 dash has to be cut 'n' shut to fit a 205, loads of work involved i presume. Looks good though! :)

I remember reading about the 206 dash in a 205, looked very complicated but the end result is very impressive :)

Found where a guy has done this 206 dash in a 205. Have a look at this topic on the 205GTi drivers forum.
