Abs Warning Lamp

My ABS warning lamp is very intermittent... But today I took the car for a drive and the light did not go out. The brakes felt a little bit weird as well...

 

I've looked at the owners handbook and it says if the ABS warning lamp comes on, along with the STOP lamp and Brake Warning Lamp the car must be taken to an authorised dealer... But, as yet, it is only the ABS lamp...

 

What could be causing this? Do the brakes need bleeding?

When you say the brakes feel weird, does the ABS feel like it's trying to work when you are only braking gently? My ABS lamp is intermittant too, and when it's on my brakes do as I just described. The ABS does still work when the light is though, as I tried locking up the brakes on some gravel and it all worked fine.
