Guess How Much A New 405 Sunroof Seal Costs?

Recommended Posts

KRISKARRERA

My sunroof seal is bulging nicely and makes operation rather dodgy unless I lubricate the seal with grease.

So, I thought I'd pop down the local main stealer and ask how much a new seal would be...

Probably cheaper to try scrappy and pick up new glass with seal.

Any roof will fit from any model 405.

Gavin.

I paid 20quid including vat for rocker cover gasket from main stealer.

Where do the sparkplug and rocker cover o-rings go.

Sounds stupid but just had rocker cover powder coated and only removed rocker gasket, didn't see plug or bolt o-rings????:huh:

theres big O ring seal that goes at the top of the spark plugs holes. stops oil leaking into the spark plugs(1 for each spark plug) and thes 3 little seals that sit along the middle between the spark plugs. only 3 of these.

p.s rocker cover gasket for 2lt mi16 is £26+VAT :o

and headbolts have gone upto £5 each :o

£5 a headbolt! :o

The rocker cover gasket was £25.97, the 3 small o-rings were 1.13 each and the sparkplug o-rings were 1.45 each, all plus VAT.

BTW, hows the engine transplant into the 309 going Paul?

and £4.95 for the little oil filter in the head

engine transplant going ok at the moment. Got the cylinder head rebuilt and refitted to the bottom end.

engine loom is converted with the round plugs chopped of and 309 plugs fitted on the end, just need to try and get the ignition amps further away from the loom plugs so i can bolt them to the firewall somewhere and will be plugged in tommorrow morning.

then should get the engine fitted next week along with fitting a fully rebuilt 1.9 mi16 engine into my mates 1.6 205 gti including removing the 1.6 engine out the car.

Pug's pricing is very strange. Some stuff is ridiculously expensive, other stuff is quite reasonable.

For example, I got a new aerial cable for the G/F's 205 in the week, had to be ordered in so I thought oh well heres 20-odd quid gone. Turns out it was less than a tenner! (£9.70-ish). Ok, its only a length of coax cable with some connectors on but thought that was quite cheap TBH.

Why is there such a price differance between parts from main stealers.

Should the same part cost the same wherever you live in the country??

How long ago did you get your gasket? Did you get trade price on it? I think you get parts cheaper if you do it over a 3 day order rather than next day, I remember someone saying.
