Central Locking

Hi everyone, this is my first post. My apologies for only owning a basic 1994 405 STYLE diesel 1.9, I used to own a 405 sri 4 years ago and have had this one since then.

What i would like is some info on how to reprogramme my single button infra red remote for my central locking, i have recently acquired a new fob of e-bay.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers Pony, have downloaded the data of this link a couple of days ago it covered most models but not the 405 for some reason , i did send an e-mail asking about the 405 but he couldn`t help me.

I notice your from Buxton, is that the High Peak version? I was born there and now live in Chapel since i got married. Small world hey.

I was under the impression that the plip and receiver are a matched pair, and cannot be reprogrammed? I may be wrong however.

glad i can help! im in the same boat as you, something is not right with the central locking and i put it down to the key not being programed?!

yeah im from buxton in the high peak, excellent roads round here! shame about the pot holes!

you should get friendly with the guys at horderns peugeot in chappel, there a sound bunch and really look after my brother and me.

On peugeot vehicles with a single button infra red remote, as state earlier is a matched pair with the receiver in the roof. However if you remove the roof console panel and look on the back of the receiver you will find a small sticker with a code on it, take the code to the main peugeot agent and ask for the remote part number 6552TN to be ordered to code, give then the code you retreived from the slip on the receiver and they will order it ready programmed. when it arrives it will work straight out of the box.

 

It may be worth checking the roof aeriel if it a phase 2 as these leak water straight into the receiver.

 

Retail cost is £51.35 + the dreaded.

 

NOTE: This is the same replacment part upgrade for phase 1 405 vehicle and the sticker is in the roof as well on a phase 1.

 

A remote taken from any other vehicle will never work unless you get the receiver from the same vehicle.

 

It is only the 2 button infra red remotes that can be reprogrammed on Peugeot vehicles, the ons found on 306, 806 etc.

True but the phase 2 405s did have the 2 button infra red remotes and I think that's what BigBopper is asking about??

The two button remote was only introduced into the 306 as the second button id for the deadlocking function.

Thats right, if it has a single button remote it is a coded item with the roof receiver, 405 vehicles never received the two button remote due to the impending launch of the 406 which did receive the 2 button remote. This goes for all the other peugeot vehicles with single button remotes, like 106, some 306 without deadlocking, some 806 without deadlocking.

 

All these keys being sold on EBAY are quite useless without the roof receiver.

 

If you have phase 1 405 with the early type of remote with the red button and it fails then you can replace it with the phase 2 version with the removable key blade,, but you will still need to get the code off of the roof receiver.
