Are phase1 and and phase 2 front brakes the same? Need front discs and pads so was wondering if they were phase specific? Cheers :)

I have swapped girling callipers, discs and pads from a ph2 GTX to ph1 Mi16.

Some other 405's to. So I guess the answer is,

No, they are not phase spesific. Don't know if it's the same with ABR though.

i'm afraid not, as when i had prob with brakes, i found that the 405td had larger pads than my ph1 mi.

A good upgrade if you can fins some which should be easy enough are the 406 283mm disks and pads, very similar to the gti6 setup.

However the 406 ones fit straight onto a normal 405 giving you much better brakes !

Thats good to know ;) . I'm guessing the 283mm 406 brakes would come from a turbo or HDi?

no i dont thinks so, i did some research on them and im fairly certain any 406 that is 2.0 and above comes with them and on the later models any 406 with 15" wheels has them.

I bought some for my 306 as someone told me they would fit AND THEY DONT!!!! lol so i tried them on my old 405 straight fit!!!!

There were plenty in the pug breakers near me i bet you sould pick a good set up with half decent pads and disks with change from £50 :)

The Mi16 Calipers are similar across the range, On the later car's (mainly P2's) use a revised carrier which has a arm (Best description) coming out at the bottom.

One good thing is that the 4 Pot Brembo's and 305mm disc's are a direct fit

so Brembo's don't fit Ph1 or what?

No hes saying there a dirct fit, which makes sense as the 406 clipers fit straight onto my 405 hubs so i suppose it makes sense the 406 brembos fit onto a 405 hub :D

they fit the later hub (i've got them on my T16 ;)), but i got the

impression that earlier hubs have different mounting points?

im sure it would be easy to source some mk2 td hubs though, i have a set but ones a bit shady ;)

This would make em a straight swap, save any dodgy modding to hub :(

but I assume they don't fit under a 15" wheel?

nope....

only on 205 with 288 mm discs and brembo's...

So with custom made adapters brembo could fit under 15 wheels with 288mm discs from xantia on 405....

Probably you should check the shape of the wheel to make sure that brembo calipers will fit there.

And as far I could see phase 1 and phase 2 has the same calipers and discs and pads...266mm discs

even in that^ case, speedline 1.9's don't fit without spacers, not because of the diameter,

but because of caliper width and my guess is that it would be the same with Mi16 wheels too.

Hi all.

have read above and need to change break pads on mi MI16, and also discs.

Did I understand well and 406 rotor brakes and calipers fits the 405 MI16 with larger diam.?

Better breakes are always welcome... Thanks.

the 406 rotors and calipers will fit, but if your running the standard 15inch rims, you have to grind some of the caliper down so it doesnt knock on the rim.

if you have 16s or above, im pretty sure that they should fit no problems.
