205/309 Grp N Engine Mounts

Recommended Posts

Jer309GTi

Ive got a set of 205 GTi Grp N engine mounts and wondered if these would fit my car? (1.9 405 Mi16)

From reading on the 205gtidrivers forum it looks as if the top mount and gearbox mounts are the same, and probably the lower mount too.

Could anyone say for definate?

Cheers

The part numbers for the originals are the same as the 205 mounts, so the group-N oones should fit fine.

Yes they fit. Be warned though.....the lower ones transmit about every single vibration the engine makes into the cockpit!

Yeah, I had them fitted on my 309. To see out the rear view mirror you had to dip the clutch to bring the revs down otherwise it would vibrate too much! But they do make the car much nicer to drive.

Lol! They certainly make the gearchanges more eventful....mine used to try to spin up on hard changes.

But BX's aren't refined anyway....it was too much.

I got a Grp N rear mount fitted in mine and found no difference in the noise/vibration.

Makes gear changes a lot better but thats all.

Not sure if it was worth the cost and work, only did it coz the old mount was knackered.

Just changing the lower mount doesn't make a massive difference but if you change the complete kit you'll defintely feel the vibration through the chassis. They do tighten it up quite well though so would be worth doing in a hard driven car.

I was wondering about the 205/309 parts too.

Are the suspension components from those cars compatible with the 405?

no... track rods different, anti-roll bar drop links different, shocks and springs different,

top mounting rubbers different... but top mounting bearings should be the same :).

I really should get round to changing the other mounts.

Because the bottom rear is stiff the top offside tends to move a bit more, so I get a bit of a rocking motion when accelerate/braking etc. Which cant be good for diff/driveshafts!
