Are they both not cherry red? trouble is with any red is that it always fades.

If its a similar mouting setup to a 205 then its very easy to get it off, you just have to hope that the years of dirt and grime havent corroded the bolts :s. I had a nasty case of broken finger last year attempting to get one off!

I think the bumper has been newly fitted  and is the only part of the car that hasen't been attack with what looks like a scouring pad

Exactly same problem with mine - looks like someone used it as a dart board. In a moment of madness I painted part of it with red "Smoothrite" and the colour is almost identical  (Not that I'd recommend that cos it still looks cack lol)

Peugeot were never known for their high standards in painting cars. Take a look at the 504 engine bay  .

As for front air damn removal. Just drive around to your local car park, park the front over a concrete parking block and reverse, if anything like what happened to me, at least one side should be ripped off, then repeat for the other side... :(
