Diesel Driveshafts

Im sure that plenty of you that could help me with this.

 

Am i right to say that diesel shafts the same as 1.6 gti?

 

Also are they same as auto's? because know where one is in a scrappy and can get shaft cheap :)

auto's are different.

What exactly is different about them, besides the part number on service box?

 

I'll be able to compare them with some 1.6 GTI / diesel shafts soon when I break my mums 1.6 spi Auto but I always thought they were the same being they are still a one piece driveshaft.

spline pattern on the inner end is different IIRC.

I have fitted 1.9 shafts and hubs to my fathers auto gentry no problem so not sure there is any difference between auto and 1.6 or diesel.
