Xsara Vts Gearbox Endplate Problems

Recommended Posts

Paul_13

I'm doing a bit of research and wondered if people could give a few pointers.

Firstly I don't have a Citreon service box account so I can't check the part number for the endplate.

^ This is the part in question, not sure if this exact picture is a VTS item or not. But you get the idea.

For a BE3 box the part number is:

14

2207 94

01

GEAR-BOX COVER

- BE3/5

BE3R is

02

2207 95

01

GEAR-BOX COVER

I'm unsure of the difference between these boxes, they both look the same by the service box pictures.

MI16

02

2207 94

01

GEAR-BOX COVER

Shows that it's the same part number as the BE3 box.

I'm pretty sure my Xsara box is an early box.

Any suggestions?

^ Paul mentioned previously his is pourous (presumeably a hairline crack or something?)

I may have one soon that could be of use to you Paul?

It looks to be real rusty, I don't wanna poke it incase it opens right up.

It's for an early Xsara VTS box :)

@Chipstick, could you let me know pretty please :)

There is a difference but I don't know if it affects the fit of the part, SB shows one part number before and one after serial number 9809714, probably need to speak to miles to be sure.

Erm... I think the plate with the serial number has vanished......

they're usually etched into the casing on xsara boxes.

The one here will be a 1.6 or a 1.9 BE3 box.

Keep researching and if it's likely to be the same, then let me know.

Miles

As I said to Paul the case changed allot, but with the longer shafts could be the reason, I've never tried fitting one to the other yet

Is the box not stamped with BE3 or BE3R on the top near the breather? Apologies if that is a stupid suggestion.

It says BE4 near the breather, but the bell housing is BE3

If some one can send me an endplate of a MI,VTS,S16, 306 Derv i'm going to compare them. It needs sorting ASAP

Turns out an 8v endplate is basically the same, and fits fine.

Very slightly different on the inside but fits fine .
