205 Gti6 Non Start!

Just had a lovely meet at Cheddar Gorge on the way back decided to pop into a dive place and the bloody car wouldn't start.

 

It never did this is the Rallye, although the old starter did fail and shorted out and fried the earth lead. Its since had a 2nd hand valeo starter.

 

Did a fair bit of driving today, about 100miles stopped for a few secs now it won't start. Turn the ignition on, hear the fuel pump going, go to final stage to engage starter and nothing...... car bump starts fine though.

 

Is it as simple as a failed starter? I tried hitting it was a bit of wood to see if it was stuck but no luck!

solenoid wire come off?

 

try the spanner/screwdriver sparky sparky technique.

How didn't I see that! Solenoid wire indeed fell off, the track to the dive centre was quite bumpy so that would be why.

thinking again, might not be that easy on this engine, but just bridge the solenoid terminal with the main power terminal, with the ignition on the engine will start
