Sunroof Plate Thickness? Will 2Mm Be Ok?

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

after my fun with a leaky sunroof recently, its gonna get plated. Just wondering what thickness of plate people have used for theirs?

I know the panel thickness isnt exactly more than wafer thin, but I was thinking about 2mm for a bit of rigidity, then bond and rivnuts?

what have you lot done?

(cue a pic from whoever it is that used a road sign!)

cheers

That's what a couple of batches have been anyway, inc the old group buy.

what about carbon fibre? Would that be strong enough to go down to 1mm? seems its tricky to find carbon sheet in 1.6mm, can find it in 2mm tho, as I'm thinking 1mm would flex at speed

Id be using as thin as possible, it holds no structural strength for the car. .5mm steel would be perfectly fine.

I can do you some carbon fibre sheet if thats all you want, PM us over some details and will send you a quote.
