What Gearbox?!?!

Hi all,

I’m new to the French car scene, fancied a change from golf’s, so I treated myself to a 205 gti with a gti-6 engine.

I done my 1st track day in it 2 weeks ago, and blew the diff up. I was wondering what gearbox people use or what’s best for the track?

The current gearbox is a 1.6 gti ones, I was thinking about getting a BE4. What sort of money should I expect to pay for one? Any other information would be greatly appreciated

A lot of people use the Xsara VTS box, I always preferred the 6-speed.

Personally i'd choose a S16 box, I prefered the ratios to the box I have now. Which is meant to be a VTS box, but I have my doubts, so could be talking complete bollocks.

 

A rebuilt box off Miles with a Final drive conversion?

For track days it's either a 1.6 box or a 1.6/1.9 box with a 4.4 CWP fitted, I;d go for a Plate diff too as the std ones are known for blowing up from time to time

A Kaaz is a proper plate diff.
