Idle Control Valve Location

in the risk of sounding like a complete idiot! can somebody help me find my idle control valve? the car seems to be having trouble holding a strong idle

 

i have a new one but its from a 1.9 and mines a 1.6 does anyone know if they are the same or different?

There isn't an idle control valve as such on an 8v engine.

 

The nearest thing is the SAD which allows some air to bypass the throttle body when cold to facilitate a fast idle when warming up, but it's not an ECU controlled device and just slowly closes over a period of a few minutes. It is located roughly underneath the dizzy - sort of disk shaped thing with two hoses and a black wiring plug.

 

If it's struggling to idle when hot, the issue almost certainly lies elsewhere.
