Where To Source A Be4 Gearbox Suitable For A Tu Conversion

Hello!

I have been searching for hours, Its not clear where I can source a BE4 gearbox, preferably with a low final drive for a small power tu block. I guess the final drives are exchangeable like the be1/3 with 4.41fd's from mi16's e.t.c?

from memory, picasso's, berlingo's I think 1.6 16v's

I think theres a few others with them

Mine came from a 1.6 8v Picasso. All the 1.6 Picasso's used the BE4.

307's also used it in 1.6 form, although it may have just been the 16v version in those.

 

You'll also need the intermediate bearing carrier from the donor car, P/N: 1807.H8

Ive got a list of part number for the extra bits you'll need somewhere. Rather guted I had to sell my set up, but needed the cash at the time!

you will need to ensure the bearing carrier comes from the same donor vehicle as there's a few differing part numbers, which I believe have a different angle bellhousing.

 

I haven't confirmed it but I believe you may be able to use the BE4 from a DV6 engine too.

Been looking at this alot for the saxo/106/AX conversion:

 

A 306 1.8 16v nearside driveshaft is a direct fit for the 106/saxo conversion

O/S 1.6 8v Picasso shaft to be shortened to 330mm (use same picasso bearing carrier)

Picasso gearbox from 1.6 8v (TU Engine) (not 16v)

 

Use the later 37mm bearings for the BE hubs - turn the BE hubs down to 37mm to fit.

3mm shim to space out the BE hub - fits between bearing and hub flange (same ID as above) (shim can vary from 2-4mm)

Ensure you get the speedo drive to connect to the electrical speedo connector

Clutch cable from Firstline P/N: FKC 1078

Clutch fork from citroen/peugeot: 2117.58 (hyd to cable conv)

Clutch cable bracket: 2151.90 (hyd to cable conv)

BE1 gear selector lever heated and bent to run down back of box

 

 

I still need to source mounts at a reasonable price

 

anyone got a BE quaife for sale for my conversion.. :)

yeah its a much more involved conversion in 106/saxo/ax as theres not really a 'plug-and-play' driveshaft solution.
