Gti6 Sensor And Plugs Confusion!

Recommended Posts

allye

Righto, just trying to sort out the wiring loom and getting all the right plugs in the right place  I've done it once already but this time round it just seems harder

I've got the oil pressure guage sender for the guage and the oil pressure warning plugs, the two grey, single pin plugs.

But I can't for the life of me find the correct plug on the loom for pressure sender, just the pressure warning switch!? I assume it should be grey  And if possible what colour wire/numbered wire should go to each?

The only other thing was I have no idea what these two plugs are doing near the throttle body/thermostat king of area, I remember having a spare plug kicking about last time.

Thanks! From a confused Ali <_<

I think the answer for the white one is in the picture itself...reverse switch? not sure about the brown one though - only 3 pins i can think of near there are the crank sensor or the vss.

Brown one's normally the crank sensor, No need to have the oil level connected either as it's not used,

What an earth is that wire doing taped to the outside of the loom?, wrong crimp fitted too as it should be red not blue for the right wire gauge, That's me being picky thou

Both of the ones circled in the first picture are the same sensor - for some reason they had a habit of putting two in rather than just blanking one of the holes off. It's the oil pressure warning light switch in any case, and there should only be one grey single pin plug around there that'll fit.

There isn't a wire for the oil pressure gauge sender as standard on anything but a Phase 1 306 GTi-6, so that needs to be added in or a redundant wire used - I tend to use one of the wires from the oil level sender, but whatever works for you.

As said, the other two look like crank sensor and reverse switch at a glance. VSS is white 3-pin from memory.

Brilliant, cheers Anthony. I have one of Spikey's looms so he has added the oil pressure wire which I have wired up, not sure if it working yet though

The one grey plug I do have only reaches the sensor nearer the flywheel so I'll stick it in that and leave the sensor on the oil pressure adaptor off.

That's fine - that's where the oil pressure switch plug is on my Xsara loom is as well.
