16" Steels On A 205

Recommended Posts

I've come across a set of 16" steel and was thinking of getting them with 165 40 16 tyres, would they look too big or even fit under the arch?

Thanks

I doubt they would fit under poverty model arches mate. You might have to take a grinder to them to make them gti style ;)

Would look pretty epic. Worked they will be roughly 47cm tall

195 45 16 is the closest to the original size.

don't know how you're getting your figures, but a 185 60 14 is 578mm in diameter.

I worked out a 165 40 16 is 47.24cm tall, must be doing something wrong..

Would make a big difference over the 13's I had recently with 175 50's on

What kind of difference would it make exactly?

Well the wheels are 3 inches bigger so it will look alot different and fill the arch nicely.

It will only look a lot different if you have the suspension set so.

I have 16 inch wheels but the 'filling of the arches' ratio changes with each set of springs I experiment with.

The cars on adjustable coilovers wouldn't be doing this otherwise as is would be a PITA to get it sitting right

I had Compomotive MO 16" running on 195/45-16 before. the calculated diameters for them are 585mm and 582mm for 185/55-15 and 195/45-16 respectively. it was actually a tad smaller but i guess it can be ignored since difference manufacturers vary in size a bit.

Currently running the 195/50-15 since it gives more choice for selection.

by the way the 16" fit very well and look COOOOOOL!

That does look pretty good. I've never been a fan of big wheels, hence the 13's, but certain wheels can get away with not looking chavvy.

I've been offered some white banded 14's now, not mega wide or anything.

found on a C5 and berlingo's, other pugs and citroens use 16" but they have strange shaped holes, they all have deeper offsets than the 205 needs.

How much do you think it would be for a set of old steel wheels with ok tyre from a scrapy?

depends on the scrappy, but the tyres they come with will be far too large.

Ah yeh fair enough, probs going to be abit expensive by the time you buy some low profiles, hmmm not so cheap and cheerful then

Not the way to think of it mate.

Go to the scrapyard and buy a set of steels with huge tyres on...approx £40. Find any set of alloys from same scrapyard with the perfect tyres on....£50. Total outlay £90.

Swap low profiles onto steels, dump the huge tyres, sell the alloys for a few quid.

:)
