106 Gti Rad On 205 Gti6

Recommended Posts

hi guys ive been thinking of fitting a 106 rad to my 205 gti6 but im thinking it wont be big enough to cool the engine.

just fancyed an engine bay clean up and thought i could lose the header tank this way, the car will be when finished used for trank days so i dont want to cook it every time in on the track.

anyone done it before?

think loseing the header tank is a bad idea.

you wouldn't be in fitting the 106 gti rad, it has an integrated header tank.

wrote some sort of reply then decided not to post it. I like the idea of no header tank. Might be worth a gander... Have a few spare hoses around to try out at somepoint

does it matter thought that the highest point of the header tank on the rad will be lower than the cilinder head by a little.

it wont be by much, the water isn't any higher than the thermostat housing.

It will work, but will be a pain to bleed - 306's are like this for example.

You will need to extend the rad mounted header tank with the 'special tool'.................more commonly know as an antifreeze bottle with the bottom cut off and a couple of rubber o rings. Thats the only way i seem to bleed 306's, xsaras etc. successfully.

Indeed - that's the way I do it too, but it's still a faff compared to the pretty much self-bleeding standard 205 GTi setup.

I was using one of these sierra cossie rads on mine. Bit of a tight fit but did the job well.

Im not using it on my current s/c setup so might be open to offers ;)

willl it still work if it was lower than the standard 205 setup. i no it will be a nightmaire to bleed but as long as it work i can live with that.

Yeah i had it mounted low to allow air flow to the TB's/filter. Had no problems bleeding it at all.

can see how low it is here, could go lower still with new lower mount.

gti6 is easy to bleed, i just used a large funnel the other day and no problem.

Renault 5 GT Turbo radiator if your looking for space... (twice as thick)

these are using the standard header tank arnt they. if u used the 106 rad with the header tank on the side will it still work if lowered for tbs.

I believe a Citroen box rad is better than the 106 one for size
