Rolling Road Req After Fitting Recurved Dizzy

Recommended Posts

thomasrally

A few months back I fitted a recurved dizzy by h&h ignitions to my XU 1600 and just set the advance timing to whatever they recommended and it runs great but could a visit to the rollers be benefitial?

Im not 100% sure whether the cam might have been slightly retarded or advanced previously to try and find the best sweet spot running on the old standard dizzy and the power seems to run out of puff at around 6500rpm but the kent pt22 cam on paper should give power upto 7000rpm which makes me think it possibly was and isnt outputting its full potential?

Unless I am mistake, the cam cannot be retarded unless you have a vernier pulley or deliberately set the cam belt a tooth out. Obviously to get the most optimum power, a visit to the rollers to set your timing, AFM, vernier throttle body etc would always be beneficial, but you may only get a small improvement.

if you do have a vernier, and a DTI you can check the lift against the kent spec at TDC, then you'll know if it's in the right place.. and work from there.
