1.9 Gti Piston Replacement

Recommended Posts

hey, i was just wondering if anyone had replaced pistons in a 1.9 (xu9ja) before. i am swapping mine for some new flat top ones for higher compression. getting the old pistons off the rods was fine using a press but pressing the new ones in seems like it will damage the pistons. is there a trick to this or something? cheers josh

Getting the gudgeon pin out is easy imo but as said, its a professional job to refit them so the pin is sat central on the rod & can't move within the pistoncatching the side of the bore.

Best take it to a decent engine shop imo, it didn't cost much when I got mine done earlier this year.
