Not very much help as I can't remember the brand but a cheapo one (25 GBP or so) from e-bay that a friend bought for his Colt was more trouble than good.

The fuel pressure would fluctuate to the point that he would see inconsistent AFRs, in fact he put back the original and all was well.

Can't you use the one from the XM?

The one on it is possibly my problem, so thinking of putting an adjustable one on, then I have he option of seeing it up better when on a rolling road next

I'd much rather fix the underlying fuelling problem than mask it with an adjustable FPR.

I'm not sure if that is my issue, other than ECU and injectors that all it can be, but fort if I buy that I can set it as standard, if I do have issues I have the option of adjustment

just test the pressure its running at rather than waste money buying another reg which unless it comes with a gauge you still wont have a clue what its at.

the original ecu will only be expecting 3bar max and wont alter fuelling with a higher pressure as it has no way of knowing

The one my friend bought (chinese crap) had a gauge but he set it at x and after a while driving the car it would drop again and yes he has tried it a few times and he had tightened it well.

He tried to use it as a cheap way to get more fuel out of the injectors to run on E85.

Far from precise I know.

BEGI do a range of rising rate fuel pressure regulators, some specifically for turbos, some specifically for naturally aspirated engines.

They have a good reputation, if you read around the internet.

I bought one for a car that Sarty was working on. It was very expensive though, and I had to get it shipped from America at about £220 or thereabouts.

The thing looked like a giant bloody spaceship - certainly no oil painting. Unfortunately, I never got to see whether it worked or not.

I suspect from your other thread that you should first be trying to trace your underlying issues before buying additional parts which may complicate matters.

Cheers for the info, I'm certain it's the pressure regulator, but not 100% just fort it might make more sense in the long run, I may just bite the bullet get the standard one and see how I go

Another thing that I have now seen is this wide and lambda sensor gauges, this may also help, as I can monitor the changes. Any ideas? Sorry to keep asking just want It sorted and running out of cash.. :(

Buy a wideband lambda gauge and fit a standard fpr and see what it does then.

With a wideband lambda you don't need to go to a RR each time to check if your problem is gone (= cheaper in the end ).

If you've the wideband, then you can start playing with adjustable fpr, cause you need to be able to check the results.

no need for an adjustable FPR unless you have a mappable ecu.

arguably no need for an adjustable fpr full stop...

Would I need some sort of gauge to monitor this? Or use it instead of the standard one? Sorry new to all this

I avoid adjustable FPRs, source of many problems, stick to proper brand capsule regs to avoid frustratingly inconsistent fuelling.

Got a standard one yesterday, when I fitted it it was buzzing. The old one didn't, and it seems a lot better

After a few days the new fuel pressure regulator has packed up, it seems i have no fuel pump relay in my car, the fuel pump is permanently running as soon as the ignition is on when the key is in position 2, and when I turn the car off it's still running for a few sends. I have a feeling this is down to no fuel pump relay

how is it wired up then?

that wont cause a regulator to fail.

I'm not to sure without having the dash bits off, but I can't see a relay anywhere, shouldn't the pump prime up, then stop until you actually start the car? I'm thinking the regulator has failed as the pump is constantly ruining. Unless the car is running there is no vacuum so the seal has failed.
