Dodgy S.a.d?

Having a worsening problem with cold starting (1.6 GTi completely standard). For a while it would occasionally miss at low revs for a few seconds when started from cold. This has worsened to the extent it'll start, then die after a second or so and only seems to catch if I give it plenty of throttle, which I don't want to do to a cold engine. It then misses for 30seconds or so before settling. Once warm starts no problem, and once warm drives wonderfully as always. I won't get a chance to have a look at the s.a.d till Sunday earliest. Has recently had new plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm and coil is good.

more often than not a combination of all the above, so best to start all over with a haynes manual a multimeter a few screwdrivers and feeler gauges, and if you have access to one a gas tester.
