My Mi16 After Nearly 2 Years Of Track Prep..

Recommended Posts

MARKMI16

After nearly 2 years of major work to make my Mi16 a quality and quick track day car, I'm super excited thats it 99% done, and nearly ready for some serious track time. J-Tech in Reading (best known for VW Golf works) have done an incredibly detailed job, and turned my pretty average Mi16 track day car into a serious piece of kit. I still have some plans for the car, like replacing the roof for a non sunroof version, fitting a carbon bonnet and a full body wrap in matt black, but for now it's all about getting it on the road and using it!

The car still needs running in and mapping, and I'm hoping for 200+bhp...

Looks good,

A very bad idea running the pumps and swirl pot in the passenger compartment........

At the very least it needs boxing in.

Have to agree have a exposed fuel system in the car is a huge 'No' I'm afraid, Pumps etc can be mounted under the car or in a secure box at the very least

Agreed. It wouldn't make it through scrutineering on this side of the world either. Nice car though.

Maybe wrapping is a bad idea, after all Miami Blue is a gorgeous colour...Thanks guys, you've just saved me some money!

Re the fuel system, this is a road going/road legal track car that isn't going to be raced, so no need to put these bits under the car. The boxing in idea would work, so I will look into that at some point...cheers.

Miles, can you supply an uprated/aftermarket manifold for a standard 1.9 8v please...I emailed you earlier this week about it.

Mark.

Nothing for the 8v I'm afraid, I'd try and find a S/H Magnex which work well on a std ish 8v.

Rather you than me, I'd say it's more important to have the fuel system covered as your not even or normally in a Race suit etc if the worst was to happen, I must say I'm waiting for the day most track day car's will have a inspection before being allowed out

The windscreen washer bottle is mounted in the boot next to where the rear screen washer bottle would usually sit. It all goes towards making the engine bay a tidy place....it works well.

Thanks mate, the sl434 wheels were a real bonus find, plus they give that much more width and brake caliper clearance over the standard 15" set up. A nice bit of oem+

well i was thinking about using the rear one as the front one but reiwire it so you still pull the stalk

but the idea of having a water pipe running down the side of carpet is a dno lol
