Well just a little topic on a car cowboys in the french scene local N-east... Well this starts off a couple of years back when a search was done for a local firm to carry work out and do-rebuilds and re-furbs, the site we found,(myself & 205_sunderland ) had loads of illistrated pics of a 205,s work done work in progress ect so all looked good on there, A complete 309 rear beam was purchesed full re-furb paint, the beam was droped of at the home of 205_sunderland we were out so his father took delivery, from what we were told about the beam was Not what was deliverd it was a mess and terrable paint job..

 

Anyway with things as they were myself i thort well lets give this person another chance so my 106 rallye was trailerd off for more head work, car came back but now my gearbox wasant working properlly so phoned and talked car was picked back up second hand box war sourced but turned out to-be knackerd so new box was sourced which turned out to be a diesel one, not good ..

 

Anyway i was looking at 16v conversions so whilst car was away i purchesed a 16v engine box loom ecu ect ect, this is were things got messy...

 

ENGINE & BOX were fitted

probs & many of them ecu must be locked ,no its not its plug play days later i,ve lost your ecu WHAT how can you lose a ecu so i purchesed a new one got it decoded by bluefin deliverd it and my car is shoved in a corner of a garden mmm not good what happend to the workshop it was supposed to be at,

 

Well i didant say much as i was fumming 205_sunderland was with me, we checked the car over my wheels were curbed throttle cable was missing exhaust bushers were gone my pugsport exhaust was tied up mmmm, few bits of swearing i said put the new ecu on the car find my throttle cable and get it started..

 

The man him self was apologising saying the bits must of been stolen yer right

 

Anyway we took the car off him as the trust had gone and i was sick of the lies and the demand of more cash...

 

Note the orig engine was a 1.3 rallye with full stage 3 development and was supposed to be sold on removal to 106rallye member but that turned sour as bits were missing from the complete engine .. must of been stoled was what i got in reply from unnamed person

 

sorry i carnt show proof as to why no names were shown but i since found out the site was fake it was x1 person moonlighting doing work from his home all pics were from his work place and not actual work achieved by himself also before i took my car there was a 205 gti in with mi16 and from the northeast running x2 ecu,s which he took us out in and thrashed the life out of it before pulling over and giving us ago, should of clicked then really...

A saying that's worth remembering when dealing with people and companies.

 

Them working from their home I don't personally see as an issue as I can think of atleast two very trustworthy and able companies that do or for years did do that. What is clearly an issue is the incompetence and damned lies, which unless what you've put is a much shortened version that misses out lots of successful work/dealings that you were happy with, does raise the question of why on earth you kept going back for more when you'd had problems previously?

I always did wonder why you went back to him after he supplied me with such a "quality beam" but its a nightmare to find any decent garages in the north now.

 

Dont forget what he did to my current gti shell when it was yours, he rebuilt the engine so badly the lad you sold it too had to scrap it and fit another engine (my current). He also said if i remember right "i took it out and give it a a good ragging and it hasnt blown up, so itll be fine" The way to run an engine in like a true pro . Didnt i buy you an exhaust for it as well when we found some bargain parts in boro and he took it off along with all your polyflex rubbers and pinched the lot? haha

If the person in question is perceived to be a con-man, and is now apparently registered on here, then something needs to be done. I appreciate you can't just name and shame him, but for god's sake let the mods know who this person is and let them deal with it, so that at the very least another member is not suckered in by this person.

I've already checked with Willo-1 and established who it is and will be keeping a close eye, although the member hasn't posted on here in over a year.

 

It's not immediately clear from the initial post, but that all happened over three years ago.

It didn't click at first, but the fact that person in question was working from home in North Berwick, makes me assume that they are linked to that other company who is notorious on here (I didn't realise they were based up here in East Lothian, which is quite close to North Berwick).

 

I'll say no more, but hardly surprised if the link between them is true.
