205 1.6 Engine Feels Numb

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Just finished getting my 205 ready for mot tomorrow and took it up the road and back and the engine feels very low on power.

Its been stood for 8 years or so but i've started it regularly lately and put some fresh fuel and given it a service but its so slow.

Its revs cleanly with no missfire of smoke.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? Ignition timing maybe?

Cheers Mike.

Some do, I know my Dad's old 1.6 going back 15 years now was slow, even the TD's of the time showed it up and nothing was wrong it was just a bad engine from the factory.

Been for Mot today and it seems to have livened up with more fresh fuel and an Italian tune up. Pops and bangs a little though on the over run?

It almost passed aswell but the brand new lower arm i've fitted has gone faulty and they failed it because it has a bit of play. Then just to rub it in my new clutch cable popped aswell !
