That looks fantastic I agree! But I am looking for a dash that keeps the 205 style but is modified to racing! What toggle switches are people using etc!!

Aww thanks for the compliments guys!

But you're right, there's a LOT of effort there which might put people off.

Beforehand I just plated up the area directly below the heater controls with some ally sheet, removed all the plastic behind them, and then ran switchgear in that.

Keep it simple.

I had switches for :-

Spots (inner)

Spots (outer)

HP fuel pump

LP fuel pump

Power steering pump

Cooling fan override

The conventional hazard switch, and the rear fog light switch.

The extinguisher button - make sure it's accessible to both driver and navigator.

Maybe some other options depending upon what you run - an ECU/ignition power switch maybe, or an alternative ECU map switch if you run different maps.

I've kept a button 'spare' with the idea of it being a STAGE button; press it at the start of the stage to set the car up for competitive use, and then turn it off at the end.

Remove the glovebox portion/lid as that's just carrying around weight for no reason. Otherwise I kept everything as-is... the middle vents are quite useful when it's cold or you're after some fresh air. Probably the big thing you could do is drop the massive heater box/matrix and put a simpler heater in place to just demist the windscreen - would allow you to remove the middle heater controls while you're at it.

Good luck!

edit: Or, what many people do for circuit racing - just remove the whole bloody lot! Doesn't look very nice, but christ it's simple and saves weight.... not sure where you'd put all the switches that you need for a road car though....

Brumsters example is pretty damn good! Its good to see someone putting effort into the car rather than just whacking s*it in like normal.

There my example. Switches are in the centre console, not many there in that image but you can fit everything you need in there.

Thanks for the replies!! I agree Ed:)

I have a Stack dash st8100 that i will be using. Having measured the inner dimensions of the dial binnacle, it was missing some 18mm in height to fit the stack and still look good. I am in the process of modifying the dash and so far have rebuilt the inner section of the binnacle so the height is now 107mm, more than enough for the stack. After which the dash will create a mould to produce a new part.

The car is only for track and is using weber's, so no ecu etc, it would be good to see what toggle switches people have used start buttons etc.

Is that a Race Technologies Dash 2 I see installed? If it is how do you get on with it and has it been installed with it's own sensors or reading the ECU data via either RS232 or CAN bus?

Sorry for the questions, just I fancy one in my car in the future.

It is indeed a Dash2. Installed with its own sensors as Im still on 8v, and its just easier.

Good piece of kit work with it and DL1 on a couple of the race cars.
