Another waste of a car due to an idiot :( I'm sorry to see that mate, had mine written off by a taxi driver last September and i'm still fighting with the insurance company now !

I'm pretty sure they will write that off but you never know until the assessor looks at it. Did they admit liability ?

Bloody shame that mate. I'm no expert but if it were me i'd expecting them to write it off. Will you buy it back off them and repair it etc?

Old people eh.

As long as the rear quarters are in one piece that looks repairable.

:)

Gutted is an understatement. Was going to take it off the road to fit a new fully forged engine this weekend! The rear quarters are fine. The car is in great knick really but so i dont really want them to write it off :(

The lady admitted full liability and have a witness so thats fine. What do you guys think on the insurers writing it off? The car is insured as a 2.0 turbo but not silly things like bigger breakers and exhaust. Will this be a problem when the assersors check it?

I have never been in an accident before so do not no what to do?

Is it illegal to ring the lady and ask if she was not to go through insurance? I hoping it will just need a new floor pan welded in, a new bumper and a new tail gate. The structual part which the lock mechanism is on is all bent, can i get a new one of these?

Cheers

This really sucks Mate, especially after all the engine work you've done recently. Hope it's not too bad and gets sorted soon enough :)

Ryanstdt has a green stdt shell he's getting rid of for peanuts. If your interested i'd get hold of him quick as he'll be scrapping it soon if noone takes it. It's pretty much rust free, and if Cameron hasn't cut the front panel off it's still in one piece. It's missing front and rear bumpers and rear trims.

Off topic but do you still want that loom? Its terrible! Im drowning my sorrows tonight with cider! The only plus i can see of this, is that they write it off and i can buy it back from them and transfer the good parts to a shiney white shell but we will see when i contact the woman tomorrow!

If it comes to it i will hold on for a white car and transfer the new engine and bits to that. Thanks though!

Mate I know your pain.

Some bloke in a people carrier ploughed into my mint 205Cti after leaving Pugfest 2009. I was gutted when it was written off.

You could buy it back and have a new boot floor welded in then find the other replacement panels. Could be expensive, or maybe find another good 205 to put the engine in whist fighting the insurance company for a good payout. Refuse there first few valuation offers, and use Auto-Trader and other websites for valuations and examples of what it would cost to buy another 205 in the same condition as yours.

It might be worth speaking with the old ladies insurance company direct to see if they can’t to give you a pay out direct rather than going through your insurance too. Sound iffy but that’s what I did a white back.

I hope this is of some help.

You insured it with the engine but failed to mention the brakes and exhaust?

I'l be totally honest with you, the insurance company will pull out and you will be left to foot the bill. The long and short of it is, you insurance will be invalidated.

Lesson is, either insure it all as it is, or you might as well not bother at all.

Anything like an aftrmarket set of alloys when you state it is standard is all they need to go on to avoid paying out.

If the assesor isn't a jobs worth he may not bother to check, but otherise I fear you may be left to pick up the bill.

It is usually the 'big boys' that will overlook the assesment the most, smaller companies will use anyhing they can to not pay out.

Ring the lady and ask to go out of insurance.

I wouldnt be so worried tbh, most assesors wont have a clue about the brakes unless they are 4 pots

Most will not query things like aftermarket exhausts on an already modified old car, they will just walk around the car and look at the damage and general condition, they do not get underneath and poke about.

I am not however saying undeclared mods are ok.

A few members have experienced similar incidents recently, I remember a while 205 rallye being repaired by the insurance company, think that was allye? Just give it a good clean and make sure you have as much history and evidence of servicing to back up a decent valuation.

If the lady has admited responsibility then go straight to her insurance company, not yours. Don't even involve yours.

The details of what you have/haven't declared to your insurance compnay should have no effect on the other parties insurance company and how they deal with repairing the damage to your car.

Obvioulsy if the boot was on the other foot and you'd hit someone and wanted your car fixing, your insurance company would be all over it for any excuse not to pay up for your own damage so get all mods declared, its simply not worth the risk.

Thats what i would have thought. I have never been in an accident before so i do not no what to do next! I have her number, address and reg plate. I also have a witness. How do i contact her insurance company without involving mine? I tried to contact her earlier but no answer so will wait a little later on and try again.

Good news! I have found out her insurance company and she has accepted full liability. Her insurance company is liverpool victoria, They are sending out someone from vauxhall to inspect the damage.

What is likley to happen now?

wait and see basically, they'll come and have a look at it price up what it'll cost to repair and compare it to its value and let you know what they reckon.

At least the Vauxhall man will have no idea what should be on a 205 unless he's been around for years, The market value of the car as no doubt you know will be in the hundreds so will be written off, But keep on as for all intense of purposes she could of run into a Porsche or something like that and the repair bill would be £10,000's
