My 205 gti 1.9 1990 G reg..

Had a new headgasket fitted..

New cambelt..

Everything is timed correctly..

It turns over but will not fire.. sound like it wants to but just wont fire..

I need This Car running for FCS 11..

I will pay any mechanic who is good with 205's or specialists to come to Scarborough North Yorkshire and fix the problem..

Injectors are squirting fuel..

There is a spark..

Everything is timed..

JUST WILL NOT START..

The wiring on the car looks to be tampered with.. But it was running before work was carried out..

There is 12v feed at injectors and they are pulsing fuel..

I WILL PAY A 205 GTI ENTHUSIAST TO COME AND SORT THE PROBLEM .. I NEED IT RUNNING BY END OF MONTH!

Tried a new set of plugs?

Simple as that ^^^ sounds it hinderd me badly.Mine wouldnt start i checked everything injectors coils inlet gaskets everythink.I even took the cambelt off and put it back on to make sure the timing was perfect .And it came down to a set of plugs i felt a right t!t .Worth considering you might have flooded it aswell .Just because theres a spark doesnt mean its good enough to start it.

Allso might be worth doing a compression check .Ive never taken an 8v apart before but can the tappets jack up? if left with no load on them ?.Or are they not hydrualic?.

Allso check all the electrical connectors arent the wrong way round etc.

HT leads on the wrong way round? Sounds like a possibility to me..

if you have fuel out of injectors and got a spark then there are only a few things that can cause it.

1 weak spark, are dizzy cap and rotor good and are plugs the correct ones?

2 low compression were the valve clearances altered?

3 timing issue but you say that is correct?

when head was off did you change inlet manifold gasket? could it be possible you fitted a carb type one that blocks the injector nozzle? in my head kit i had a couple of different types of gasket so could potentially get it wrong.

My bets are on this if plugs and HT leads are new and you have spark and fuel.

TT205

On one of my 205's I had an intermittent fault where it would turn over but not fire, this was the infamous brown multiplug - seperating the two halves and plugging back together 2 or 3 times would usually bring it back to life
