Back In A 205 Gti Saddle!

Latest is i have started to take all the engine to bits to give it a damn good clean. Removed the front slam panel this evening, had to drill out the bolts holding it in so they will get some new spangly ones. Then i am going to re-spray the slam panel from the awful cream colour it is at the moment to either black or Miami Blue...not sure what to go for yet.

• Replace nylon 5mm tubing from washer bottle to jets - Ordered

• Blown driving/fog lamp bulb (To be honest will probably replace both lights due to being a tad rusty at the bottom edge) - New lights/lamps ordered via forum! COMPLETE
  
• Drivers seat split stitching (Car booked in to seat re-trimmers in two weeks )
  
• Coin box broken
  
• Slight crack in drivers door speaker cover (Ordered from eBay)
  
• Small dent in passenger front wing
  
• Rear brake discs & pads (Bought from EBC complete with pads. Going to fit myself next weekend)
  
• Replace all brake pipes (Quote from Autotec £107)
  
• 4 x new tyres (Two rears have splits)
  
• 4 x wheel refurb
  
• 2 x Air hoses needed due to splits COMPLETE
  
• Alarm system missing... Grrr!
  
• New distributor cap COMPLETE
  
• New rotor arm COMPLETE
  
• New leads COMPLETE

Must take some pics!

Really happy with the slam panel i sprayed black tonight. Rubbed it down taking all the rust spots out, degreased it, rubbed some more, then gave a couple of coats of primer.

Cleaned up all the bonnet release mechanism and sprayed the cover with primer.

Drilled out all sheared and snapped bolts and then by that time the primer was dry and sprayed the slam panel and catch cover a nice shiny black.

 

Happy days.

 

Tomorrow, put it all together again with nice shiny S/S bolts!

All back together! Over the moon with it. I have a nice shiny black slam panel, furnished with SS bolts, nuts, shakeproof washers and penny washers.

Looks the dogs danglies!

New driving lights! Bought through the forum.

 

New washer hose and washer jets.

 

Resprayed slam panel and replaced all rusty bolts & screws with new S/S bolts. Had to drill a few of them out after shearing!

 

Cleaned engine bay! 21 years of grime removed.

Nice to see another GTI in Kent, cant say ive ever seen it about in maidstone but saying that mine doesnt come out much. where abouts are you located fella?
