Boost Solenoid Plumbing

Recommended Posts

Daviewonder

Hi All

Due to changing the boost pipes on my 2.0 turbo I have nowhere to connect one of the boost solenoid hoses, it's the one that originally comes from the boost pipe that goes onto the throttle body. What I need to know is, is it ok for me to use a 'T' piece to connect the pipe, say from the map sensor hose or the dumpvalve vacuum hose?

Cheers :)

EDIT:> Scrub that, probably talking bollocks :)

as long as the take off is in the same section of pipe work as it is as standard you should be fine ie is it

Pre Turbo?

I can't remember where mine was located off the top of my head

Thanks Matt, I'm still learning about this turbo stuff  The original connector was Post Turbo/Pre Throttlebody Butterfly. Any idea if the connection on the throttle body that the purge canister used to go to would be ok?

gotta be honest I'm not sure

my engine is tucked up at the moment so can't check.

easiest way is to whip inlet hose off TB and have a look where the take off comes out. Blow through purge pipe if there's more than one hole :)

You need to get this right as otherwise the result will be lack of boost/boost spikes/ECU cut.

It will have been where it was for a reason, why can it not go back there?

Tom, the solenoid pipe originally went to a small take off on the large boost pipe that goes between the intercooler and throttle body on the 406. Where I've changed certain pipes to make everything fit in the 205 engine bay I've had to do away with the 406 pipe with the take-off for the solenoid hose.

Ideally I need to add a small take-off to the pipe that goes to the throttle body but I have no way of doing this.

Sounds like you need to add a hose take off then, not an insurmountable task, what is this pipe made from?

It's just aluminium pipe, the kind you get off eBay. I've had a search for a 'hose take off' now I know the correct term.

Link Bit steep :o
