[car_overhaul] Begginings Of An Overhaul Of A 1.9 Gti

Recommended Posts

NNPUT

I've owned this GTi since 1997 and used it daily until 2001 at which time it was taken off the road due to getting a company car. It was garaged for a couple of years and then stored under cover on the driveway ever since. The car has lots of history with it from prior to me purchasing to current day. This includes tax discs, MOT's service history book and invoices/receipts.

This was the car prior to being taken off the road.

I have started to strip the car to enable me to get it overhauled and resprayed etc.

I have removed the exterior trims, badges, mudflaps etc, just the front bumper to do! Most of the interior has been taken out and boxed up after a quick clean.

I have bought a pop up gazebo (6 metres x 3 metres) with sides to enable me to work on it even if the weather is bad.

I'm borrowing an engine hoist off a mate at work and an engine stand off another guy. Next weekend i'll be removing the engine and box to overhaul that.

I will try and update this as and when!!

Mods - If the photos are too large please let me know as this is my first attempt at a thread with photos!

Thanks

Mark

A few photos of my somewhat slow progress to date.

Basically the engine and box has come out and been cleaned a bit, subframe and rear beam alo removed.

Bought some bits to commence the engine overhaul.
