Would These Floor Mats Suit A Phase 1.5 205?

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I am looking at getting some mats for my graphite 1.6 GTi, its a very standard 1988 car, so grey cloth interior.

I have seen THESE mats on eBay but can't work out which ones will look the most OE in the car.

They can't make a grey or red set so would black ones such as THESE or THESE look silly and too black?

Alternately if anyone can point me in the direction of some nice OE style ones elsewhere, please point away.

I feel as though this thread has the risk of sounding like a male equivalent of 'does my bum look big in this', apologies.

Many thanks

I don't think the black would be too much, imo it would break up the color a little inside if you get me?

Looking down your first link I quite liked these ones,

Grey writing and not too out of place with a grey interior.

Do they do RHD versions - as the one's advertised seem to be LHD.

Yes, I have already checked that, they can do RHD.

I always need to buy tailored ones that clip in as being lanky my feet end up pushing the mat into the peddles over a short drive!

I bought some of these and have to say the quality isn't that good.

Edit that, mine were from france, the ones from holland look good :)

I prefer these ones of them all but would like them even more if they had red edging rather than the grey / silver in the pics.

Graham.

I think you could be right Graham, I have asked if they can do red edging.

I used to have these ones in my grey 205, they looked good and not too over powering;

the first ones on the list.

the writing on the french ones looks a bit big in my opinion.

They are the ones I have and the quality of them is excellent. I'm sure I paid nearly half that a couple of years ago though.

Thanks for the info chaps. I like the sound of Auto Five grey ones, I have asked them if they have a photo of them, on their website it only shows the black ones.

The AutoFive ones had a strange black area in the centre of the 'GTI' logo which looked strange on grey mats so I went for the ones on eBay from the Netherlands.

They turned up today.

They look really good on first inspection, I chose the grey so to match the cloth phase 1.5 interior.

I don't know how well they fit yet though.

Edit: I have just realised that tge text is not where I asked, I have emailed the sellers.

These look great Jonny - presume these are the ones I sent you links for?

I fancy some - if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay including delivery?

Not as bad I suppose - I paid £60 for the poor by comparison Auto 5 ones.

Think I need some of these......

Thanks Jonny!

The thing I have to work out is to keep these wrong ones or not. I wanted the text a right angles to where it is smaller and slightly smaller. I'm not sure if these are OTT or not? I suspect if the seller offers to knock a bit off the price I may just keep them.

I really like these - I was going to get just the GTI font (with no 205 on it) and grey border too to match my carpet.

I'd keep them.

I sound really cheap but Tesco do a set of luxury thick matts in black and they fit the 205 footwells perfectly. I have had two sets now and because the are alot thicker than others they wear well.
