The Standard 205 Jack - What Does It Look Like?

Recommended Posts

Rupertfinch

Excuse my stupidity, but I've lost the jack for my alas departed cherry red 1.6. I've still got the cover, but somehow it's disappeared and I did say to the buyer that I'd pass it on to him.

I can't find any images of the standard jack, but is the 206 example the same, Hopefully this link will work to give an example.

Any thoughts? I'm pretty sure it is the same, but there's that nagging doubt.

Whats the CTi jack look like?

Mine came with a standard one in the boot, but the fitting for it in the engine bay is different and it doesn't fit.

Didn't CTi jacks fit under the passenger seat or something similar? Unsure if they are the same or not.

I know that the jack in my 205 GT was completely different to the one in my STDT, I threw one away and went to replace it with my old one and the bastard thing wouldn't screw in as the holes didn't match up.

The CTI jack fits in the same place as the jack in the GTI (O/S Inner wing), but it's a scissor type jack which I can only assume was used because of the additional weight of the CTI's underbelly.

The scissor type jack is shown here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/peugeot-205-1-9-1900-gti-lifting-jack-/110618073539?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item19c159d9c3

Cars with air con fitted as standard have the scissor jack fitted under the passenger seat, as the usual space in the inner wing is used for the air conditioning reciever drier. I presume they used a scissor jack on these cars as it's less bulky when collapsed compared to the standard jack, so fits under the seat easier.

How does the jack secure to the underneath of the passenger seat? Ive got to try and stash my jack somewhere now Ive fitted most of the aircon components.

Hows that fix to the inner wing, there's an extra mounting bracket on mine.

I'll upload a photo if i get chance.

Craig: there's a boss welded to the cross frame under the seat that you screw the long screw through the jack into. There is also a cut in the carpet so you end up with the jack bolted to the metal frame and the flap of carpet partially covers the jack. I'm sure a pic somewhere, I'll see what I can dig out. Sure you could retro-fit it, just need a boss welding to the chassis and a Stanley knife on the carpet!

Alex: ordinarily, under the jack on the inner wing, there's a circular feature on the metalwork which in the case of air-con is punched out. The receiver drier fits in there, partly through into the wheelarch underneath and yes, there is a pretty rudimentary bracket that fits around and under it to retain it. Again I probably have a pic so I'll see what I can dig out if that helps.

Also on the old Moss Alarm installs at the dealers the jack had a nice little bag and clip in the boot

Thanks, a pic of the underseat would be great, so I can think about retrofitting it at somepoint, when Ive next got the seats/carpet out :)

This shows a pic of the cut out in the inner wing, with the bracket for the receiver dryer fitted:
