Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 pic of the dash, got some stuff to put back in but it looks worse than it is, cos kev is sorting me some new dials as it currently has yellow lockwood ones which i really dont like heres the pics of the steering wheel with the cracks, still waiting on a company to get back to me about supplying a new one (been 2 months now though) wont be using the surround it came with as its broken above the dials (probably when it was taken out) its ok though i have another (borat style) there really is hardly a mark on the paintwork apart where some c*nt keyed the rear 3/4 panel, ive spoken to the guy who runs the motor club at work and he said he'll get rid of it no problems for a crate of beer i'll need four new fog / driving lamps for the front as these are cracked and generally cr*p
Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 i'll be using my 306 GTi 6 as a donor for the Goodwood, as its got a known good engine which has been regularly serviced, had a recent cambelt, tensioners, waterpump fitted and is not a tapper!!!!!! also bought a runaround for the time being as the 306 was my daily driver, got a 309 1.9d, bit of a sh*t box but i like it heres the GTi 6 got the engine out after having a fight with pretty much every bolt on the passenger side also got this through the post the other day, baker bm silicone hose kit and thermostat adaptor (cheers stew) one pic showing the goodwood the donor and the workhorse B-) anyway got most of the silicone hoses off the Goodwood Mi16 engine (i'll get them sold to pay for more shiney bits) took the exhaust manifold off which will be sent to miles to be re-angled as soon as he gets back to me, loosened all the nuts off underneath ready for when i finally get the front wheels off ) and ordered a plug and play loom from spiky (cheers kev for putting miles and spikys names forward) decided i'm going to freshen up the front suspension components, wishbones, trackrods, droplinks etc as they are looking a bit tired and very s*itty more pis too hoses off and GTi 6 Manifold ready to be sent off will update as soon as ive done more (sooner rather than later)

Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) Wonder who will call dibs on the MI Good little project, haven't seen one with a 6 in before engine and hoses will be for sale shortly i went for a GTi 6 engine as it has good power / torque and has been reliable for me, also i know this is a decent engine as ive bombing around in it for the last 12 months Edited September 30, 2010 by Moz_Goodwood
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 30, 2010 Good stuff, but poor 306 I see a 2.0 Mi head and the 'rebuilt Mi16 gearbox with some GTi 6 box ratios' can be taken with a pinch of salt I'm afraid as nothing swaps across
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted September 30, 2010 £400 with an mi, quaiffe, coilovers, 4 pots!!!!! What planet was the previous owner on?

Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 £400 with an mi, quaiffe, coilovers, 4 pots!!!!! What planet was the previous owner on? think he had a few problems and cut his losses, plus i think he was happy with the fact i wasn't just going to strip it for parts
welshpug 1,621 Posted September 30, 2010 thought the mi16 box could be used on a gti 6 engine with the right flywheel / cluch combo? i didnt want to keep the gti 6 box as it ruins the turning circle yes indeed it can, just an Mi16 clutch. but what Miles was talking about was this - rebuilt Mi16 gearbox with some GTi 6 box ratios
Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 ah right, seems like the previous owners had the wool pulled over his eyes then as there is a receipt for it and it clearly states that it was rebuilt and used some of the gti 6 ratios wonder if it was actually rebuilt at all just found the invoice and it says "rebuild gearbox with GTi-6 cogs, 1st, 2nd and 5th Mi16 / 3rd and 4th GTi 6" price £450 if its bullsh*t then dont use any "transmission specialists" in cradley heath, west mids
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted September 30, 2010 ^ Seems like he did. I'd personally trust Miles word 200%
Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 true and i wouldn't trust a man from cradley heath over a chimp let alone miles
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 30, 2010 1st is machined onto the input shaft so cannot be changed along with 2nd, 3 & 4 are a matched pair on the output shaft, 5th you can use but not a Late BE3/4 type as it's very slightly longer
Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted September 30, 2010 definately talking through his hoop then, conning bar-steward
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted October 1, 2010 Plus the shaft thickness is different on the paired 3 & 4, hmm, But they could be around the same Ratio without looking so that could be the catch
marksorrento205 80 Posted October 2, 2010 Nice project Moz Nice to see you finally getting to do the goodwood project you wanted to do
