205 Gtx Longest Gear Linkage?

Recommended Posts

ishan

I have just removed my old gear linkages from my 1993/L 205 GTX 1.4 having just received some uprated steel gear linkages from Pug Racing to eliminate 2 and 4th gear popping out.

Having removed the longest linkage, I have noticed that it is connected to the subframe hinge but a rubber bush rather than a ball joint as per the one sent by Pug Racing.

Does anyone know if my car is odd by having a bushed linkage, or if I have just simply been sent the wrong part? Or if there a way of fitting the ball jointed linkage to the bushed mounted hinge? The advert does say ALL TU engined 205, which mine is, so I'm a bit baffled.

You might find the rubber is part of the old linkage they tend to come off when you remove the rod and stay attached to the ball.

Miles has suggested a smaller ball joint but I can't see how a ball jointed end will fit on a shaft to fit a rubber mount.

Bottom is the old one

Kinda see the old rod attached to the subframe hinge

A picture from another thread to show the end from above.

Any suggestions?

Swap the lever for one with ball joints?

Saying that I'd like to see what the ball looks like now youve removed the rod.

Rang up Crawley Down Peugeot for a long rubber bushed rod, discontinued!

How easy is it to swap the lever unit. Doesn't seem to be an obvious bolt to undo it.

Very easy, the dome bit just pops off and there is a bolt under it.
