Mi16 Camshaft Lobe Wear

Recommended Posts

hi

i previously rebuilt a mi16 using iapel pistons and catcam 527 cams, the head was reconditioned at my local machinists but it tapped from new.

i changed the lifters for another set it was still no different.

The engine then began to use alot of oil. decided to strip and found that the exhaust guides were shot.

i then purchased another head and sent it all down to QEP along with the noisy head. they found a bent valve on the exhaust side

my problem now however is the catcams i was using in the noisy head are worn on one lobe on the inlet, andone on the exhaust.

Qep never got round to stripping the inlet valves out so one of them may be slighty bent too.

is it possible for a slightly bent valve to wear out a camlobe.

i need to get to the bottom of this before new cams are installed in the new head just incase.

thanks

tim
