1.9 Gti No Idle At Tick Over

Hi,

 

if anyone can help me,

I have a 89 1.9 gti, when warm it idles perfectly, but when started from cold it cuts out, if you hold it at say 1200rpm it idles fine, remove foot from accelerator and cuts out, this happens until it is warm

 

The idle when warm sits nicely around 900rpm so the idle adjustment screw is fine

 

any ideas what this could be?
