Are All Pressure Map Sensors The Same?

Recommended Posts

Guest Zed666

hi, im pretty sure i will be able to use a COSWORTH 2 or 3bar map sensor in my up coming 205 turbo....but im just making sure....

ive seen a couple of cosworth 2 and 3 bar map sensors floating round and was wondering if there was anything i should know before i buy one and hook it up to my ERL MF2 ???

also, a 2 bar map sensor should be more than enough for my setup (max of 1bar probably), should it not?, its just ive only ever seen 3bar map sensors mentioned b4 now.

cheers for any info

Phil

Yeah they are all the same, use one right for the amount of boost you are going to run, if you plan to stay below 14psi then a 2 bar will be fine, anything above then you need a 3bar.

3 Bar is a huge amount of boost (about 40psi), so I'd say 2 bar. imho

3 bar MAP sensor allows for 2 bars of boost though ;) which is still a huge amount :P.

but doesn't a MAP sensor have a 0-5v output, or something like that, so if you

put a "bigger" MAP sensor on it, what happens, how does the ECU cope with it?

3 bar map sensor = 2 bar positive pressure 1 bar negative.
