106 1.4 8v Dying

Recommended Posts

Got a mate with a 106 quicksilver who rang me for some advice. He said on four occations on a five mile journey the car kept dying as if someone was turning the ignition off

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

I'll have more info later when he finishes work, but from what I can gather (as he's not into cars) is he was driving and it felt as if the ignition was turned to the off position ie when the key is removed so the engine cut out and all the dash shut down. Then as he was coasting it fired into life again.

Not sure if it applies to a 106 but my Fiat Coupe did this once and it turned out the mechanic hadn't replaced the live properly on the battery.

Also had a 205 back in the day that wouldn't start at all and that was down to a loose live on the shunt box, are 106's wired up similarly?
