Sunvisors & Cages

When I put the cage in I lost the sunvisors, there just isn't the room to get them bolted back in to where they should be.

 

I also now sit alot lower in my bucket than in the standard seat and get more of the sun coming through.

 

How have people managed to get round this, has anyone worked out a way to use the standard sunvisors mounted differently ?

 

I could go the route of a sunstrip but ideally wanted to retain the original parts if at all possible

you used to be able to get 'clip on visors' that would clip to a cage so you could use them whenever. maybe design some clips yourslef and mount them to the standard visors?

 

alternativly, wear a helmet and visor, with a tinted visor

I had a similar visor fitted but had to remove it as it's an MoT fail if it's in the sweep of the wipers.

I'm a short arse have a big sun strip and a lowered seat so it doesn't work - have to wear sun glasses!

Just checked. Apparently as long as it's "a tint" and not completely black then it's ok as Mot garages don't have the light meter thingy to measure the light coming through.

 

Or as my mate just said "as long as your not taking the p**s it'll be fine".

I think any sunstrip would have to be about 2ft in depth to cover what I need.....

 

Gonna have a look at a clip method with the original sunvisors....or just cable tie them on !

I run a cage and buckets (with a lowered floor), I am 6'1 and use a 7" solid sun strip which works okay for me.

I think mine's about 12" deep at the edges, less in the middle. I'm 5'10" and have the buckets bolted to the floor and it's only really in the last hour or so of daylight that I get any problems. But then that would be so much worse with just the std visors.

Depends on the cage as some you can still use the visors, my SD C12 Caged car still has the visors, although they don't fold up to the screen so much, still do the job.

 

C44 and Custom caged cars though, not a chance!

It was perfect when I was racing but a pain in the arse on the road trying to see traffic lights.

 

The problem with the MoT was that it was solid not translucent.

 

Found a place near me that'll do one for about £25, fitted so i'll probably do that.

This is my car. Not that big a strip, but later on in the day it is a 2min job to add a stripe of tank tape if needed.
