Anyone Ever Had A Paint Smart Repair Done

Recommended Posts

having bought the 205 Gentry of Spikey-Rich i'm aiming to do show and shine with it as its quite original but there is a very small paint problem that someone had a go at sanding out and went through to the primer,

I had one on my old vectra, I always could tell it was there, just had a bit more dull/orange peel than the rest of the car, but for a third of the price than having the panel done, and as was selling it anyway.

silver is probably the worst colour to match so you will more than likely spot it a mile off :)

For something so small, I'd probably just try and do it myself - at worst you'll spot it, like you can now.

I do smart repairs, tho I'm in N.I ;)

That shouldnt be too hard to blow in as long as whoever is doing it does the following,

Removes the trim, Does spray cards for colour match, uses 2k lacquer and soft edge tape where he blends the lacquer out

Most of the smart repair guys work for local car dealers,

So if you know anyone who works in sales/service at a local dealer, ask who they use,

They may know who to use or who to stay away from!!

I wouldn't trust kwik-fit to paint my fence, let alone my car.

i have seen alot of smart repair jobs at my place of work and to be honest not very good,in 1 or 2 mnths down line the repair drops back and you can see the blend wher they have faded the clearcoat out,if you want a cheap job and your selling the car then fair enough but if your keeping the car then get it done properly,
