Would have looked so much nicer if the engine was silver, totally clashes IMO. But it does look super clean!

I think you either need a new camera or something to calm your nerves.

Looks very nice and clean, but no cambelt cover? Take it from someone who's learnt the hard way it's a quite risk to run without one...

Nope, 1.9 Mi16 (engine mount, dipstick and oil pressure senders are a giveaway)

under the bonnet its pageant blue,

yer i know the red and blue dont go great but the engine was already painted red from when it was fitted in my old pug (black and red) so didnt want to strip it yet but will do when the winter comes as going for a full body respray and hopefully a supercharger

But he did wear his pants over his tights, which is just plain gay.

:D

Totally agree with the cambelt cover comments, and that the install looks tidy.

Should see you in the next few days Chris for the bottom end stuff plus. Hey...when I'm at yours, would you explain 'yer'. :)

thats a very good point sarty haha it is a bit gay but then again he did come from another planet lol

how come people think its better to have the cover on as i thought it was only there to stop people working on the car getting things caught in there? i've seen loads of cossies etc running no cambelt cover when using vernier's?

I would imagine a freak occurrence with a stone would probably spell the end of your engine though! I think someone on here scrapped their engine after having an off into a gravel trap and stones being flicked into the cambelt.

That would be me :) . Didn't scrap the engine, but bent all 8 inlet valves and cost a lot in repairs and my time... Even after the repairs it didn't seem to go as well either so ended up fitting another engine in the end.

It really doesn't take much to get in there and cause the belt to slip a tooth or two, a small stone will do the job and there are an awful lot of small stones in a gravel trap; if you're planning on going anywhere near a track covers are a must.

Even if you're not I wouldn't take the risk of some road debris getting flicked into the belt - if this happens, even if it doesn't cause the belt to slip, it could be damaged and fail prematurely.

If this was the case the alternator would have one too.

I can see your point from crap getting in there as the roads in uk are pretty rough so i might try make up a cover for the bottom half so the pulleys are still out but the bottom of the engine is covered

Something I've always fancied doing is getting a hole saw and cutting two big holes in the cover so you can see the pulleys through it :)

Looks clean and tidy, but I'm not a bit fan of painting engines bright red, particularly the head. Clean ally is the best look imo, and it still makes finding any leaks just as easy.
