steve74 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Hello members, Ive a 205 Gti and im having the quarter panels and boot painted. My question is how do they sort the common stress marks out? Im thinking do the Body shop fill the area of the stress cracks with some sort of flexi sealent? Just being nosy has to how they do this. Anyone know? Anyone know? if you mean the crack along the seam above the windows, then the only way to cure these is to dig out the seam completely and refil with fresh sealant. Not a big job. Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted April 7, 2010 Pugnut,Thanks mate, but when you say dig them out what do they use a grinder of some kind? grinder would be a bit norty, a chisel or knife should dig out the the old crap, then some wet and dry paper folded in two to clean it out. treat any rust or bare metal , fill with sealant then prime and paint. its a spot welded join of two sheets of metal, so there is no gap in there after a mm or so, and you'll never get the rust treated properly if you have any.
