[rally_prep] 205 1.6 8v Rally Rebuild

Recommended Posts

Nickmatthewsrallying

Hi i am new to the forum so i thought i would start this topic about my car, and little (ish) rebuild.....

The car was a 1/2 decent spec when i entered Rally Of The Midlands last year with it, unfortunately everything went a bit wrong in one of the stages (merevale) and we ended up on our roof :o

The plan always was to rebuild the car this winter.

How the car looked at midlands;

One of my favorite pictures

So the dismantling began only a day after the even, first job get it round the back of the house, bit of a tight fit, good job we took the wind mirrors off.

I should explain at this point i had the mad idea of fully seam welding the shell, and all i can say if bloody seam sealer!! This is as far as i got with nitromorse, wire brush attachments to drills, fires ect ect

How much did the shot blasting cost? Did they primer the car afterwards?

Cheers,

The shot blasting was done by a local engineering place, it was done as a little job on the side took about 3 week and was £100 cash job  , he didn't primer as it need to be welded.

progresses nothing really interesting to be honest just been connecting all the brake lines and water hoses ect. hoping to get the fuel tank in and the bumpers and plastic trim and the fuel tank and pipes ect on this week, and get the windows and screen in next and start putting the new loom in and putting things like lights in and number-plates on.

Update:

I am still awaiting the new loom to be finished. but at the moment everything is connected just need to get

Sump Guard

Tank Guard

Engine/Gearbox oil

water in the radiator

Connect fuel lines to fuel pump and filler neck

fastener the fuel and brake lines down inside the car.

seats/harnesses/helmet box/center console/navigates foot rest.

Bumpers

Plastic trim

Windows

wiring/lights ect.

Then will be ready for some fun, seams like a long list but should not take too much longer to finish off. Just need the wiring loom :D
